Proactive Alerting for Your Intune Fleet
Reactive monitoring is a liability for MSPs managing multiple Intune tenants. Too often, compliance issues go undetected until an audit reveals them, a client escalates a ticket, or a security incident forces a retroactive investigation. When you are responsible for dozens of tenants, each with hundreds or thousands of devices, manually reviewing dashboards on a regular cadence simply does not scale. Problems slip through the cracks, and mean time to detect compliance drift stretches from minutes to weeks. Govex proactive alerting was built to close that gap entirely.
The alerting engine evaluates your configured rules after every data sync. When Govex pulls fresh data from the Microsoft Graph API, it immediately checks all active alert rules against the updated dataset. This means detection happens at the speed of your sync cycle rather than the speed of human review. Govex ships with six built-in templates to get you started quickly: compliance drift detection, stale device identification, unencrypted device alerts, jailbroken device detection, Windows Update policy failure monitoring, and disabled user account flagging. Each template is preconfigured with sensible defaults but fully customizable to match your operational requirements.
For scenarios that go beyond the built-in templates, Govex supports custom alert rules using a JSON-based condition system. Three condition types cover the most common monitoring patterns: threshold conditions that fire when a metric crosses a numeric boundary, exists conditions that trigger when specific data points are present or absent, and stale conditions that detect when a device or record has not been updated within a defined time window. These building blocks are flexible enough to express complex monitoring logic without writing any code.
Alert delivery supports three channels to meet your team where they already work. Email notifications provide a traditional approach with formatted summaries of the triggered condition. Microsoft Teams webhook integration posts alerts directly into a Teams channel with rich adaptive card formatting, keeping your operations team informed without leaving their collaboration tool. Generic webhook delivery enables integration with ticketing systems, automation platforms, or any HTTP endpoint your workflow requires. A single alert rule can notify multiple channels simultaneously, ensuring that no critical notification is missed.
Before enabling a new rule in production, the test and dry-run feature lets you validate that it behaves as expected. Running a dry-run evaluates the rule against your current data and shows you exactly which devices or records would trigger the alert, without actually sending any notifications. This eliminates the risk of noisy false positives flooding your channels and gives you confidence that each rule is tuned correctly before it goes live. Teams that adopt proactive alerting consistently report a significant reduction in mean time to detect compliance issues, shifting from days or weeks down to the length of a single sync interval.
